President Cynthia J. Boyle welcomed the Board to a called meeting of the Board at 6:45 a.m. at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Convention Center on April 1, 2016. The following Board members participated in the discussion: David D. Allen by phone (Council of Deans), Robert B. Blouin by phone (Council of Deans), J. Chris Bradberry by phone (Treasurer), Patricia A. Chase (Immediate Past President), Craig D. Cox (Council of Sections), Edward M. DeSimone (Council of Sections), Joseph T. DiPiro (President-elect), Natalie D. Eddington (Council of Deans), Schwanda K. Flowers (Council of Sections), Anandi V. Law (Council of Faculties), Lucinda L. Maine (Executive Vice President), Evan T. Robinson (Speaker of the House), Steven A. Scott (Council of Faculties), and Todd D. Sorensen (Council of Faculties).
Guests included newly elected Board members Anne Y. Lin (Council of Deans), Stuart T. Haines (Council of Faculties) and Steven C. Stoner (Council of Sections). Staff included Sibu Ramamurthy, Senior Director for Finance.
Resolution for Institutional Dues Increase
Treasurer J. Chris Bradberry and Sibu Ramamurthy, Senior Director for Finance, provided an overview of a preliminary budget that would be supported by funds generated with an institutional dues increase if approved by the delegates to the 2016 AACP House of Delegates. All funds would be allocated to implementation of initiatives in the strategic plan which also requires House approval.
On MOTION (Bradberry, Robinson) the Board resolved that the institutional member dues for Associate and Regular Institutional Members be increased by $2,000 to $26,000 in FY 2017 and by $3,000 to $29,000 in FY 2018;
Be it further RESOLVED that these funds shall be Board-designated specifically for implementation of the Association’s strategic plan for 2016-2020 as adopted by the 2016 House of Delegates.
Continuing Professional Education Section Name Change Request
On April 12, 2016, Executive Vice President Maine sent an electronic voting request to the Board of Directors regarding a request from the Continuing Professional Education Section to change the Section name to the Continuing Professional Development Section. Affirmative votes were tabulated within 48 hours of sending the request and the name change will be effective beginning July 2016.
