The American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education (the Journal) is the official scholarly publication of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). Its purpose is to document and advance pharmaceutical education in the United States and internationally. The Journal editor is Gayle A. Brazeau, PhD, professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Marshall University, Huntington, WV. Dr. Brazeau is the seventh editor of the Journal (2014-present), which was founded in 1937 (see History).
Twelve issues of the Journal are published online each year. The Journal is a free-access publication and no subscription is required to view articles.
The Journal accepts unsolicited manuscripts that have not been published and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere. The Journal only considers material related to pharmaceutical education for publication. Authors must prepare manuscripts to conform to the Journal style (Author Instructions). All manuscripts are subject to peer review and approval by the Editor prior to acceptance for publication. Reviewers are assigned by the Editor with the advice of the Editorial Board as needed. Manuscripts are submitted and processed online (Submit a Manuscript) using Editorial Manager, an online manuscript tracking system that facilitates communication between the journal office, editor, associate editors, reviewers, and authors.
Once a manuscript is accepted, it is scheduled for publication in an upcoming issue of the Journal. All manuscripts are formatted and copyedited, and returned to the author for review and approval of the changes. Approximately 2 weeks prior to publication, the author receives an electronic proof of the article for final review and approval. Authors are not assessed page charges for publication.
Articles appearing in the Journal are indexed in PubMed/PMC; Web of Science; Current Contents, Education; Current Contents, Life Sciences; International Pharmaceutical Abstracts; Current Index to Journals in Education; and by PROQuest and EBSCO. All materials published in and comments submitted online to the Journal, as well as reports and papers presented at AACP's annual meetings, become the property of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.
All expressions of opinion and statements of supposed fact appearing in the Journal are not to be regarded as necessarily expressing the policy or views of the Editor or of AACP. All questions, comments, requests, and complaints should be directed to the editorial office at ajpe@ajpe.org.
